In the sixteenth century a lime finish was used purely to deter insects and rot from oak beams and paneling. By filling the grain with lime the wood was protected. A little later, however, limed wood became fashionable. Otherwise known as cerused oak, this finish was very fashionable in Art Deco and midcentury interiors and is now once again very much on-trend. Our reclaimed black oak presents a striking and unusual look with a distinctly deco feel while retaining the knots, cracks and ripples of its original state.
